What is something that your students hear you say a lot?

“Have-a-go “

“You can do it!”

“Kiss your brain”

“Make a lunch choice”

  “Kiss your brain.”

What makes it a great day for you to be an Ivy Hawk?

Every day is a great day at Barnardsville! I am so thrilled to work in this precious school, with a great team of teachers that truly care about the kids' needs first. I love first grade because the kids learn so much and it really excites me when they finally get something that has otherwise been difficult for them. I love it, and consider it such a honor, when they accidentally call me "momma" because to me, they are mine.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?

That's scary. Ella will be 16. Let's not think about that!

Seriously, I hope to still be teaching at Barnardsville! I love school, so I often threaten to go back to school for something random (and totally unrelated to teaching) like nursing or massage therapy...something to do in my "free time"

What do you like to do when you are not teaching?

Be with my family. My weekends right now are consumed with cleaning up messes and playing baby dolls and I LOVE it. I also enjoy watching college basketball, going out to eat (I don't like to cook) and taking road trips. During the summer, you will find me at the beach (my mom lives on Seabrook island).
